I think eventually we'll get to this point, but as for now most developers are still not comfortable/aware enough with what they can achieve in the ps3. It's full capabilities have yet to be tapped. It's only a matter of time. I don't think it's developers being lazy when they don't put 1080p and PCM. I think they're being lazy when they port a game over from xbox 360 and the port sucks. I am more concerned about cross-platform games performance.

Aren't they already having trouble fitting the maps alone on BD?

no, they are having trouble fitting dual audio onto the disc.

but, wouldn't specs like these kind of explain why they ran out of space.

if so this game will be an amazing landmark in gaming history(assuming it runs smoothly and has a great story).

Of course it'll still be pretty historical just because the game will be amazing.

I think it will be running @1080p/30. It has a ton of effects from what I've seen in the demo, so that's amazing!

I expect it to render natively at 720p with a framerate varying between 60 and 30fps. Most audio will be presented at 5.1/7.1 LPCM.

If anyone's disappointed if it doesn't natively support 1080p you've only got yourself to blame for having unrealistic expectations.

-It's been confirmed for 7.1 PCM.

-It also has been confirmed for 60fps, but lowering to around 30fps in some scenes.

-It has been rumored to be seen at 1080p, but nothing official.

MGS3 runs at 30fps and less (as opposed to MGS2's 60fps and less with explosions, crazy water effects and tankers full of soldiers ) so the jump back up to 60 would be nice. I'd trade that in for a detail increase like MGS3's but I'm just going to have to wait for their next game if they take the higher detail over 60fps route.

3D grass in MGS3.. I hate it when next-gen games still don't have that.

I forgot the MGS2 spotlights (like in the Olga boss battle), if you glanced past them especially in first person you got some slowdown and tearing.

Running smoothly > Resolution in this.. for sure. If it's 720p I hope they used a good amount of aliasing. As long as it's sharp, and runs well.. I'm happy.
