Default Future of Blu-ray on PS3, What do you want to know?

I will be conducting an interview with someone from Sony about Blu-ray and the past and future features on the PlayStation 3. I thought I would open a thread to see if there was anything in particular you guys would like to hear.

I will be having the interview tomorrow, so I will check this thread tonight and tomorrow morning.

No, I dont want questions like that...

Think more like.... What are your thoughts on Digital Distribution and how long do you think it will be until it takes over physical discs likes Blu-ray?

In reality, the answer to that is 5 yrs at least if not longer.

there are MANY reasons why that is the case.

I'd be curious to know more about what they have planned for BD-LIVE interactivity within the PS3. As a gaming console platform there should be more potential for interactive features than on standalone players.

And what about the 3D features we've just heard about on the upcoming 'Hannah Montana' release? Is this something that can be accomplished with ANY source material transferred onto the Blu-ray format? Or, does it have to be filmed in a certain way in order to accomplish that effect?

Maybe you could also mention that the BD-LIVE MoLog feature on currently released BD-LIVE software is producing incredible amounts of garbage on the servers since there doesn't seem to be any instructions anywhere on how to use it properly! It took me 5 hours to learn how to make the only decent MoLog available for 'Saw IV'!!!

I think DTS-MA support is something some want to know, however, I want to know if they will re-release the 60 GB PS3, as I have that, and I bought a 3 year warranty with the store, I'd very much hate it if I got a downgrade if something bad should happen to my PS3 (not that I've expecting it to of course) are there any new models of the PS3 planned for release? and of course what new features are coming in future updates?

As for a question I would like to know Sony's stance on the state of the Japanese market. For example the feature less Wii is outselling it and the 360 is getting big name RPG's while the PS3 is getting the stick. I would like to know how Sony is going to be working with third parties to ensure that we get back the Japanese support they have lost (ie Tales of series, Monster Hunter, Eternal Sonata etc.)
I like to ask the hard hitting questions the ones which to answer you can't pull off the top of your head. Honestly I would love an answer to this very question as I am NOT buying another POS xbox to play those games.

We are getting DTS-MA in a update very soon (PS3fanboy has the article) unless I miss read it and we are getting some other alphabet soup acronym.

That is a great question by BigBlur...

Why is Sony just sitting on their arse when all of the big name RPG companies are heading for greener pastures? Besides Square of course...
PS2 was a paramount success for RPG's and still is!! When will we be getting more RPGs!?

When are the prices going to come down? I love the quality but I'd rather pick up a regular dvd movie for $10 instead of double that or more.

Are they going to bunld home theatre systems with a blu-ray player standard? Like the kits where you get the dvd player and speakers and everything instead of buying all the components seperately. I know buying everything seperately would be louder and better than one of the kits, but some people would rather buy something affordable and everything all at once.

When are they going to have more of them available for rent at retailers? Only one blockbuster where I live stocks them and they never have anything new in stock.

Is it possible to get them available at redbox for a low price? I wouldn't mind paying 2 or 3 dollars for renting a blu-ray for a night from there. That place is the only place I rent from because of the price and logic. I watch a movie once in one day/night. I don't need a weeklong rental for $5 or more. It'll just sit there and collect dust untill I return it on the due date.

I hope it's not to late to ask, but I'm curious about their online store and how PS1 games are chosen to be in their "PS ONE classics" series.

Does Sony have free reign to chose whichever titles they please? It seems many of the games on there now were released as "greatest hits" titles also, is this part of their gameplan? or is it just coincidence?

How much do "politics" play a role in the titles they release? For example, the Oddworld games (Abe's Odyssee & Exoddus) does Sony have to go through Oddworld Inhabitants (the developer), GT Interactive (the publisher), or Lorne Lanning himself (the creator who just so happens to no longer work in the games industry) to seek approval before releasing those titles on the PS store? Does Sony require that the games be touched up aesthetically by these entities for better high definition compatibility?

Also, those first two Oddworld games were originally released for both the PS1 and Microsoft windows, does this mean Sony and Microsoft would have to do battle for the rights to release these games on their online stores, or can they both release them independently of each other?

And I agree that my JRPG fix is hardly being met by the PS3 however my thirst for new release titles would be satiated by the release of old gems on the PS store such as Lunar: Silver Star Story & :Eternal Blue. Although I still have my old copy of Eternal Blue, I have absolutely no idea what happened to my copy of Silver Star Story and I have been itching to play that game again.

Also, the interview will go over things like AV receivers, components, HDMI/Optical, sound systems, etc. So if you have q's on that too, post them up

Will the PS3 ever be updated to view your files differently, and create subfolders? I have about 160 gb's of music on my PS3, and because of the PS3's inability to have subfolders, I have to scroll through hundreds upon hundreds of artists or albums to get to the bottom. It literally takes me like 5 minutes to get to the bottom of the list.

in a related question will we have an update that'll allow us to create custom sized partitions? as it stands now it's all for the PS3 or it's something like 10 GB for Linux or 10 GB for the PS3, could we get a sliding bar to allow the user to indicate how much to allocate to Linux/PS3?

a "search" function in the music portion of the XMB. push triangle and a new option is search. Ask if they would ever add that.
Also, will they ever put out PS3 with newer HDMI chipsets for bitstreaming high res audio? Kinda like when XBOX added HDMI? I think some would be interested in that. Even if it was just a silent switch.
