Default Future 3D Blu-ray Players

Hello Room-

Been away for a while and perhaps this question might have been addressed ? So with that said .. does anyone know if the new 3D Blu-Ray players will upscale Non 3D Blu-ray discs to 3D ? Or does it require a 3D Blu-Ray formatted disc to be used ? Yes it will be paired to 3D TV.

Best Regards

If you are referring to most Blus which are non-3D, then the answer is no. The film is specifically shot with 3D cameras or digitally altered to make the image compatible with 3D glasses.

Some manufacturers (e.g., Samsung) have annouced they will have a video processor built into some of their 3D LCD flat panel HDTVs that will do "on-the-fly" 2D to 3D conversion. From what they were showing at CES 2010 earlier this month, it certainly does not provide nearly as good of results as having a true 3D source. So far I haven't heard of any announcement to offer a similar feature built into a Blu-ray Disc player. I would expect it to generally be a feature for some 3D displays but not the BD players.

Portable DVD/Blu-Ray players that only have one movie worth of battery life are just stupid. I can't believe people buy this crap.
