Future Shop using standard def to demo blu-ray players

I was in future shop today and they had two blu-ray players on display. they had the samsung showing the sd dvd of rocky IV and the sharp blu-ray player had the bd of ghost rider but the video ouput on the player was set to 480i(which I changed to 1080). I was thinking it has to be a very hard to sell a bd player if all they are showing to the customer is standard def.
