Default What type of cables do you use to hook up ur CD Player

I just got a Marantz CD-5400 cd player, i was wondering what type of cables you guys use to hook up ur cd players like, RCA jacks, Optical, or Coax. I am going to do some A/B testing when i get a chance. i would just like ur opinion on the matter.
right now i will be using the coax jack with a cardas cable, heres the link

I'd use optical if you've got it.

Optical if you can.

Digital coax is just as good over short distances.

If you use optical you lose the benefit of the DACs. I use DH Labs cables for my Music Hall CD Player.

How do you figure this?

Optical will still need DACs to convert from digital to analog...that is what DACs do.

Optical is merely a transport to get the bits from the player to the DAC.

1. Analog cables--stereo L and R uses DAC in cd player.
2. Coax digital-- uses DAC in receiver or pre-pro
3. Optical digital--uses DAC in receiver or pre-pro.

Much depends on which unit has the best DAC, if you have a good quality cd player its DAC will be best and use the analog connection.

+1

A-B test for yourself, but typically a good CD player will sound better on 2ch music than many receiver DACs.

I don't have a receiver, so I connect my CD player to my preamp using Nordost Blue Heaven interconnects on the RCA jacks.

Using i.link for SACD/CD transport to my pre/pro which manages the DSD or PCM to analog. Upgrading interconnects at one place and not other analog transmission points or your DAC/AMP will probably net you nothing. What pre-amp, amp(s), active crossovers and loud speakers are you using? Any processor that enhances CD audio?

I always use tos optical cable when ever I could use it. Digital coax is okay if optical is not available at the other end. Failing this I would use good quality analogue cables.

No reason to buy Monster cable extremely over rated.
