Stand alone. Pioneer Elite BDP 95. Would only have PS3 if I were going to play games also. But would not ever get rid of Elite for movies. I hear that Pioneer will be coming out with a new high end player that will compete with the $2000 Denon and the new Marantz which is in stock at www.onecall.com this new Marantz looks good. Anyway, my next player will be the new higher end Elite model when it comes out.

BD-P1400 and a PS3. The PS3 only sees games, I like having my audio bitstreamed to my reciever even though they are the same in theory. The BD-P1400 uses less power than the PS3 while playing movies as well.

Both.

The PS3 is mainly a Tiger Woods PGA Tour-playing console, but the BD abilities sure came in handy when my Panny standalone got bricked and had to be sent to the service center.

I own a BD-P1400. Haven't even seen one zone b blu-ray disc with a dts-hd ma soundtrack. Not that it would make a difference cause I 'LPCM' everything.

Ps3 here.

But,.. I would have likely bought a stand alone if things had been different. When HD DUD and Blu Ray started in 06, I was very eager to get in on it as soon as I could and the HD DUD players were about $500 and the Blu Ray players were about $1000.

At the time $1000 for my latest HT item was not in the budget (actually.. it still isn't.) So, I was actually hoping to snag a HD DUD player, but then the PS3 was released and suddenly Blu Ray players (in the form of Ps3's) were $500 and $600. The same price point as the worthless HD DUD players.

So... I picked up the PS3 at launch and sold my upconverting DVD player and Video processor (that I had used for a few Laserdiscs) and that made the PS3 affordable.

Anyway... If a nice stand alone player had been available from the start for roughly $500 I would have gone with that. That's about how much I could spend and I have a projector and dedicated Home Theater so I was just looking for a High Def Movie playing device, not so much all the other great stuff I've found the PS3 can do.

-Brian
