28s better on DVD? Or Blu

Ok i have close to around 30 blu rays...All of them look great on my tv.
And most of those movies got recomendations from this site.
Well 28 days later is one of my favorite movies. I have the dvd.
I never got around to buying on blu ray
And when 28 weeks later came out...I thought...what...this cant be any good...I didnt watch it because i didnt want to spoil one of my favorite movies.

Well i recently watched 28 weeks later on HBO...I actually loved the movie...Now i want to get them both on blu ray....I read in the reviews that they dont look very good on blu....But is that compared to something that looks real good? Or does that mean stick with the dvd version its the same thing????

Just wondering your thoughts before i buy....Im also thinking about getting golden compass and narnia.

28 week later look superb on Blu-ray. The director use stylistic choice as the 'Infected' scene are grainier than the 'Normal' scene but it's a great disc that does the job of what it was in theater..

28 days later have been film in 576i PAL with a El Cheapo MiniDV cam so you won't get really better than the DVD. But if you have access to DTS HD MA 5.1 it's worth it for the sound

Golden Compass is nice but way too more DNR was used. The Animal stand too much as they are very detailed but people look like plastic dolls. Still better than the DVD off course but i was dispointed by it's PQ overall..

I think it is important to get the right balance of the grain and DNR. DNR if applied too much could ruin the BD as the details will be lost. If I have a choice I may choose grain over DNR smoothness as I prefer details. However, same time I do not like grain. It is a hard choice. There are BDs with incredible detail without grain. I expect this is mainly due to the quality of the original movie and the film stock.

If you already have the DVD of "Days", you probably shouldn't bother with the BD.

Well the 28 D BD should look a smidge better than the 28 D NTSC DVD..

(The BD saved me from agonizing hours of decision of wherether to import the PAL DVD one day )

I remember some Van Goghian SFX scene that looked prety nice on the BD and that was not part of the ending.

But if you have already the DVD, you need to weight how much you like that movie to get the "Hardcover" edition instead of the "paperback" edition

28 weeks later looks terrible on bluray. it even looks bad on good tv's not just bad tv's like elements which was the topic of another funny thread

The Final Scene Hurt My Eyes, lol, I Was All Adjusted To The Crappy Quality And Then BAM Amazing Picture Quality.
