Default Has anything changed with PS3 and iTunes?

Like an idiot, i bought a lot of music from apple. Everyone knows the rest of the story.

Everything I can find says you cant transfer iTunes ACC to a PS3 without jumping through hoops to either change the format, or emulating. I assume that this is somewhat current information.

Is there a way, in place or coming, to get music from Apple onto my PS3 as easily as I moved them from my old laptop to my new laptop?

The simplest thing to do would be to log onto iTunes and see what is available to upgrade to iTunes Plus songs that do no have DRM. That will cost you, but once you upgrade, there's no issue playing them on the PS3.

Thankfully, I haven't bought much from iTunes and am slowly replacing those purchases with the actual CDs. I don't want to be stuck buying both my music and hardware from one source.

You can do that, but there would be a loss of quality if the CD was them ripped again. It will work, effectively removing the DRM.

Just burn the songs to an audio CD and import them to the PS3 at 320/WAV. I actually think it sounds pretty good, but then again I'm not an audiophile

Yeah, what I want to do is burn 3000 songs onto disks so that PS3 will read them... Thats at 20 songs a disk 150 CD's! Thats about 12 hours of burning... AND, that is going backward! I have it on my computer so I dont have to have it on 150 CD's

I want to be able to put it on a thumb drive, plug the thumb and copy and play. Why is Sony not working with iTunes? There should be an easy fix given that Crab-Apple backed Blu from the start. Is there something coming, or am I SOL with using my PS3 to play the music I have? I would not be shocked that Apple would be the jerk, but Sony should then include the ability to DL iTunes to the Music icon

I want a lot of things though...

I don't know if I read it wrong or not, but you should be able to hook up your ipod to the ps3 and copy all the songs you want off your ipod to your ps3. It worked fine for me. Or if you want to take them off your ipod and put them somewhere in a folder in your computer to burn or whatever you might have to download a program for that.

Fairplay is the apple code that keeps non-iTunes software from playing things bought on iTunes. It works to do that if most or all of your songs are ripped from CD.

I thought that it was not possible with fairplay songs.

Am I wrong? (I hope I am).

I know you can stream iTunes libraries, but I think you can only do it to other iTunes libraries on another machine. However, if it's simply streaming audio then you could probably stream it to your PS3 somehow (similar to the way I stream XM radio to my PS3).

However, I am not sure if iTunes streams it with DRM in place or if it just streams the audio thinking nobody will capture the stream. I think that's unlikely, and I feel like I've typed this for no gain now... but I'm going to post anyhow :-D

I have purchased songs from iTunes also and I am still attempting to find away to play these files on the PS3 with my great audio equipment. It's frustrating because it seems to me the DRM protects Apple much more than it protects the artists. There are many ways to share these files with various types and mutiple units of Apple equipment. Try another manufacturers hardware and there is the problem.

Try Napster for future purchases. Hopefully it won't be too difficult compared to iTunes.

Data keeps the coding iirc.
