The XBRs are considered Sony's premium TV series...most of the 2006 ones are also designed with floating glass surrounding them, and most 40" and up feature Full HD 1080p

In theory the KDL-70XBR3 is suppose to do 1080P/24 and refresh at 120HZ rate. Scheduled for a date around Feb 28th Will have to wait until it is released to verify it accepts 1080p/24 input. Currently the only Sony display that accepts a 1080P/24 signal is the Sony VPL-VW50 ceiling mounted front projector

The KDL-70XBR3 is out of most people's league at 33K. What I am hoping for is an 80" SXRD ~ 7-8k street, but I'm doubting that will happen. Once you get to 80" it may just be better to go with a front projector (Pearl or the forthcoming "Ruby II").

I am looking for something "new" this year, and I anxiuously await to see what Sony does with SXRD RP and FP on this year's models.

Esox50,

I am also waiting to see what happens with Sony rear projectors. I would love to have a Front projector but I would need to move and get a house with a dedicated theater room. I hope Sony comes out with a new line of SXRD rear projectors in 2007 and does not wait until 2008 to launch a new line. Possible in September or October we might see something new. I would love to see a monitor only Sony rear projector SXRD that had HDMI 1.3 true color with 1080P/24 support with a refresh rate of 120HZ or 240HZ.
I would rather see a monitor only Sony SXRD or if they are going to include a tuner it should have NTSC/ATSC/QAM with MPEG-2/MPEG-4 decoder with M card. The new Motorola and Scientific Atlanta M card allows one to have a true two way cable box built in the TV using video on demand and cable company onscreen guide. Picture quality is more important to me and a monitor only is fine, but if one is going to include a cable card slot on any new TV it should be the M card and not the S card. Old S card is for one way QAM.
