Default DVDEmpire Blu-ray sales top 60%

If you look at the statistics on DVDEmpires site, you can see that Blu-ray is consistently outselling HD-DVD. The margin continues to grow. Blu-ray has now passed an important milestone at 60% sales. With upcoming release schedule it is not unlikely that Blu-Ray will exceed 2:1 ratio sometime in March. All this after HD-DVD held 60% or better market share all of last year.

Maybe we could make chart out ot it

So for the first 3 weeks of January the average of those numbers is about 59% Blu, 41% HDDVD. Lets see how the whole month ends!

BD has an almost a 200 rank lead over HD DVD for Amazon for the top 10.

The HD DVD fanboys are probably not talking about this anymore.

Perhaps this war will be over sooner rather then later after. Maybe September is not too early for HD DVD to surrender. How long can Universal hold out if this trend continues. And what is to stop it from continuing? There are more top releases from Blu-ray exclusive studios on the horizon (i.e Spiderman, Pirates, Casino Royale). How much will that lead grow as shelf space at BB, CC begins to be 2:1 Blu-ray. And isn't PS3 coming out in Europe in about 2 months. This will give Blu-ray a complete global presence, unlike HD DVD which is pretty much non-existent outside of NA.

Getting to the 60% number crosses a psychological barrier. HD DVD hitting below 40% is a psychological barrier as well.

The next three months are a desert for HD DVD titles. So, it will be a wipe out by April. Hell, Fox was right, it's going to be 3.5x for BD by the end of March!

Is HD DVD the April - Dec format? Did someone fail to tell the title planners that this year HD DVD is on the market from Jan through the end of March?

I really can't fathom what is going on with Universal. Unless it is a strategic re-evaluation (likely).

ROFL. And years from now, in a tell-all-book, we'll probably find out that half of those HD DVD sales are the result of purchases by a certain someone and the discs are being stored in a certain company's underground volcano lair.

This is because a good deal of people who were going to go Blu-Ray were waiting for the PS3.

Talking Blu-ray ROCKS MY SOCKS!

I know I was definitely waiting for Blu-ray (PS3) to release. I was so impressed I went out and bought a $3,999.99 (CAD) Sony VAIO notebook to boot so I could take it wherever I go, and to show off to my friends who have HIGH-DEF TV's, but are still stuck in the stone age... LMAO

My Blu-ray movie collection has grown to 30+ movies in the last week alone...

Yesterday's purchase:

Annapolis
Resident Evil: Apocalypse
Superman Returns
Sahara
Black Hawk Down
Enemy of the State
Gone in 60 Seconds
Speed
House of Wax
The Covenant
The Italian Job

Purchases last week include:

Mission: Impossible
Mission: Impossible II
Mission: Impossible III
Pearl Harbor
XXX
The Transporter
The Transporter 2
Into the Blue
Fantastic 4
Stealth
S.W.A.T
Underworld: Evolution

The copies we had from PS3 launch date until up to this last week:

The Fifth Element
Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby
Kingdom of Heaven
Kiss of the Dragon
Lara Croft: Tomb Raider
Ice Age: The Meltdown
The Devil Wears Prada

Anyone agree this is quite an overload in the last week? I'm determined to be one of the many to get Blu-ray off the ground and miles ahead of HD-DVD, and as others have said i'm going to have to take out a loan soon...

How much do you think my recent purchases have helped so far this week? LOL j/k

For a 20-year-old I think i'm doing pretty good where I'm at, I just use the parents 60" Sony to watch my movies, or my laptop.
