2.40 Firmware allows New Line Titles 7.1 audio playback - Blu-ray Forum

Today's PS3 firmware update 2.40 allows 7.1 playback with my Onkyo 605 receiver... previously I could only get the 5.1 audio from New Lines Pan's Labyrinth, Shoot 'em Up and Hairspray... must say I am very impressed with the sound.

I always could get 7.1 from new line even before 2.40.

Damn! Sold Hairspray 'cos PS3 couldn't decode full 7.1 sound. Still, I have Pan's Labyrinth to look forward to. Its been in my collection for a month now, but haven't been tempted to watch it. Now that it is going to play in 7.1 surround I will be taking a look soon.

seems like one of the best updates yet for the ps3!

Congrats once again to the Playstation 3 owners!! It really is the do everything BD player!
