Is there a US version of Downfall?

I saw on tower.com that a region 1 locked us/canada version was available. Has this been released in the US? or do I have to import from uk?

As far as I know , the UK one is the only available which is why I ordered the UK one.

You won't be disappointed if you buy from Amazon uk or the movie

yeah the movie has always been one of my favs. but I just realized I left my dvd copy at an ex's house. Now to desperately search for a copy of it on blu.

Uk version comes with the bigger standard European cases correct?

Correct. Same size as a normal blu-ray, but the thickness is the size of a DVD.

I loved the movie ( just saw it last week ) so I'm holding onto my copy , if not I would have helped you out.

The height is the same? Great! I might as well import this now! I thought I was going to have to buy another case, download a smaller cover art and everything. I can live with it being thicker just not taller.

It is one of the best movies about WWII and the guy that played Hitler gave one of the best performances in the history of motion picture history. Very, very highly recommmended.

I've just put the cover in normal size cases with all of my UK releases and so far they all look fine. Never enough overlap to cause wrinkles or anything and barely noticeable besides the image on the spine being a 'mm' larger then normal.

The UK Blu-ray isn't bad, but has a few flaws.

One of them is the hard-subs which I hate, next is the audio.

Since there's the German BD and HD-DVD, then I'll go with..

HD-DVD almost impossible to buy, i.e, from Amazon websites.

Blu-ray is doubtful which one is better, but I'd say the German is, since the film is German too.

From a review from the Amazon UK Blu-ray of Downfall aka Der Undertang (or how it's written, he said this:

"The film is in German with English subtitles. In darkness, the film seems very scattered, so poor image quality at night.
I have ordered the film to Germany."

So.. Is the German BD the definitive release to buy?

Can anyone recommend a place where I can find the German version to purchase online? I couldn't find anything on eBay and searches on google turn up just the UK version or a DVD.

I can't read German so an English website would be most appreciated.

Thanks rdodolak. I ordered from them and I just wanted to confirm for anyone that might be on the fence about the German version, that it plays just fine on a US PS3 (with system software 3.61 as of this post). I can't comment on DNR, or any of the other audio or visual terms that you guys were discussing because I'm not familiar with them. I will say it looks pretty good to me for what it's worth. The English subtitles took me a minute to find as of course all the menus are in German.

Good movie. Great acting.

I highly recommend that you import it from Amazon UK. Downfall is a great film, and no Blu-ray library is complete without it.
