But, really, why do you need the lossless movie track if you are listening to the PiP audio? I would think standard DD or DTS would be fine. |

Batman Begins uses Dolby TrueHD 5.1 16-bit 48kHz 1551 kbps (equivalent to 4.6Mbps for PCM after decoding) as the primary track and Dolby Digital Plus 2.0 192 kbps (48kHz, presumably also 16-bit) on the subaudio. See the difference.
![]() So far in the handful of BDs with real PiP they all use 2.0 192kbps subaudio only. To me it just doesn't make a lot of sense to have the lossy subaudio 2.0 competing with the lossless primary in 5.1 or 7.1. Afterall you want to hear the subaudio. |

To answer your question, in the BD30 main menu, you will need to set Secondary Audio to "ON" and audio output to "PCM" in order to get the PIP audio to mix with the main soundtrack. Then you'll hear the Bonus View (i.e. Pofile 1.1) audio commentary. You will not get lossless audio doing this but as others have pointed out, why would you even care about lossless if the commentary track is blabbing away.

If you've previously set the "bitstream" option for other non-PiP discs you don't NEED to change it to "PCM". The Panny can bitstream the mix as DD. Changing it to "PCM" every time you want to hear PiP audio just makes it more tedious.
I suspect you didn't set secondary audio to "on" before and you need to do that. It's all in the manual p.21. |
