Default True Lies on TBS

I just turned on TBS HD to check out True Lies and it looks horrible. It looked awful on TNT HD when it was on a few months ago, what gives? They seem capable of doing decent transfers of so many other movies, why does this one always look like crap?

So much on TBS looks awful. I guess due to massive compression and 720i or something.

+1. I hate that TBS stretches 4:3 TV shows (like Friends) to fit a 16:9 screen. Just keep the original aspect ratio and add something pretty in the bars on the sides!

And then they have the nerve to call it "HD"
Well lookie here TBS, just because you stretch it to 16x9 does NOT mean it's HD.

It'll look better when all channels are 1080p. I should be getting 1080p service really soon.

Actually, I worry that the PQ will only be worse since they'll have to further compress shows.

I'll find out for myself when it happens. I'm not debating/arguing about this topic no longer. I'll let my eyes do the talking when I see it, then I'll post it in this thread.

1080p service? You do know that no current channels broadcast in 1080p?

Not yet but by the end of the year most channels will be 1080p. I have patience so I'll sit back, eat my popcorn, and enjoy a nice cold Budlight.

I have heard of NO announcements for 1080p channels, so I'm assuming you have some "inside" info I don't know about?

Dish Network and DirecTV are rolling out 1080p movies via VOD... but there's been no announcements for any channels in 1080p (as no channel has announced intentions to offer 1080p.... yet!).
