Again, as always, thanks for checking the facts. I think Tom was joking. There are no plans for a True Lies 2. I don't know about the creative direction thing... I'm always down for a good action/comedy ( actually we always classified the film as a "domestic epic"). But since September 11, I've never felt comfortable generating laughs with nuke-toting Islamic fundamentalist terrorists. True Lies, even though it has a cautionary thread underneath the pratfalls, is in a strange way a product of a more innocent time.
But if we ever do another True Lies, I wouldn't dream of doing it without Tom. He's a good friend and a very funny guy.

Back in January, Tom Arnold said that if everything goes well, he will be able to re-unite with Arnold Schwarzenegger and director James Cameron for a "True Lies" sequel.

Now, Tom Arnold has confirmed to NY Times that as soon as Schwarzenegger leaves the governor's mansion, filming of "True Lies 2" will begin. "All I know is Jim Cameron's making it and Arnold [Schwarzenegger] and I are going to be in it, and it starts shooting in 14 months, the day after Arnold stops being governor of California," he said. "It's not going to be called 'True Lies II,' but it might as well be. I can live with that."

During all the interviews at Comic-Con, not once did Cameron mention "True Lies 2." He did, however, mention many other projects that he is considering as his next, including "Battle Angel" and "The Dive."

I agree with you. Mr. Arnold is probably just trying to stir up some free publicity for himself. I doubt it will happen, but if it does I will be very excited.

I have my doubts. I do not think that after the big gigantic Avatar, James Cameron is going to make a sequel to a 90's lone hero action movie. I would also be surprised if that was Arnold's big return to movies.

Maybe I'm too skeptical or maybe I don't like True Lies enough to want this to happen. I'm sure if it is true my dad will be pleased... he really likes that movie.

I won't be holding my breath for lines like "Your fired" that aren't even double entendre. THAT ONLY WORKS ON ONE LEVEL!

I have SERIOUS doubts about that. VERY serious doubts. Cameorn doesnt even like True Lies anymore, so why would he do a sequel? Plus, he doeasnt like to reuse the same acting team, thats why he didnt get Biehn for Avatar cause Weaver was already in the cast. Anrold and Tom again? I dont think so. Plus, he already himself said that he's next project is converting Titanic into 3D and then T2, and the in the far future he has plans for Avatar 2 and Battle Angel

The important thing is that they put True Lies out on Blu-Ray as soon as humanly possible. C'mon, Jim! All we have is that cruddy laserdisc transfer on a non-anamorphic DVD! Gimme' a remaster and DTS-HD!

He said it will begin shooting in 14 months, didn't he? If so, it'll be released more likely in 2 years, not one.

I'm not sure what to think about this. I liked the first one, but does it really warrant a sequel? I gues so, but only if the original cast members are in it, whicch according to Tom Arnold, they are. I'll definitely keep my eyes out for this film in the coming months for more info.

Please! Don't let this happen! It has been too long imo. I'm not sure I would like to see this movie. Even with Cameron, Ahnold and Curtis back, this ship has left port a long time ago.

Maybe they can try a different film and story with the same cast or something.

I am fine with just the original, I don't need to see them in a sequel, they are all getting on with years and their shape is not what is was once 15 years ago. They would look more credible now in Cocoon 3 then True Lies 2.

EDIT: Plus Arnold didnt age well, so he dosent look like a super spy anymore
