Default Sharp Aquos: Do you own one?

Sorry I posted this in two areas. I'm interested in other experiences with these players.

I have a Sharp Aquos BD player. This player has every issue known to the format. It locks up. Load times are extremely long. It has many software issues. Many discs give me the incompatible disc error.

I've had this unit less than a year and it is quite annoying that I'm going to have to buy a new unit to get around these problems. I've contacted Sharp and the woman on the phone admitted that all their players have serious issues. She said I have to send it in for service but they will replace it if service doesn't work. Personally, I'm insulted that I spent $400 on a unit that may never be right. Or the new one I might get from Sharp will have the same issues.

I've noticed hundreds of posts on several review sites regarding these same problems. Can anyone say "class action lawsuit"? I mentioned that to the woman on the phone and she said she's surprised that no suit has been filed against Sharp. She stated that the players were not ready for general use.

What do you think?

It's against forum rules to have the same thread posted in two different forums.

I have one. You may have a defective unit. I had the same problem with "incompatible disc". I contacted Sharp Service, they picked it up, returned 2 weeks later and it performed perfectly since. no cost, of course. I suggest you do the same.

I also had in the beginning some hickups with several movies, but the most recent firmware seems to have cured all those. Startup times also seem to have shortened.

In summary, I think now the player is perfectly servicable and I intend to keep it for some time. I like the fact that it is virtually noiseless and easy in setup and operation. PQ is excellent.
