Default Oddworld Anyone?

Looks like they're working on a next-gen oddworld. article was unclear if it was a PC exclusive, PS3/360, or just a PS3 exclusive. if anyone has any addition info please post. here the article:

Quote:
A new Oddworld game is in its earliest stages of development. In a conference at Wilfrid Laurier University, Maxis co-founder Jeff Braun mentioned he was working with the team at Oddworld Inhabitants. Lorne Lanning, president of Oddworld Inhabitants, confirmed it was indeed true. Mr. Braun and the Oddworld team are working on a graphically-intense Oddworld game that will blur the line between video games and CG movies. Don’t get too excited though, as the next Oddworld won’t see store shelves for years to come.

The first two were genius. The 3rd installment in 3-D not so much.

Although I'd certainly prefer PS3, I'm broad-minded enough to have purchased all the platforms for my teenaged son, so I'm covered.

OP this is the greatest news in a while, I love oddworld universe, especially first two. I think inhabitants have great minds and will put out a great game, I'm glad they are back in the field.

Sadly not.

Hard to imagine Oddworld having the same magic without OI being 100% hands-on with the game though.

I remember having trouble getting the PC demos to work properly. Difficult to play without a gamepad with an excellent d-pad too.

Oddworld was one of those that had slipped my memory until I read this. Like most, I loved the first two games but when they went all 3D it kind of ruined something for me. With the recent surge in retro gaming (Bionic Commando, 1942, the upcoming Mega Man) I would really like to see some companies go back to the basics when games were fun.. Castlevania reboot anyone !!??.. and get us some really GOOD side scrollers like Oddworld while at the same time trying to push the envelope on current games.

Stranger's Wrath was excellent (even if you could often spam a load of different ammo types for success) one of the best looking games of the previous generation and not recognised for that, too. Munch's Oddysee not so much.

I still, to this day, walk around the office - let out a little fart (when nobody's in earshot) - and say outloud: "Hee hee hee".
