Default TV partially blocked by center channel

So I have my center channel partially blocking my tv (both are on my tv stand). I haven't found a shelf or anything to put on top of my tv stand to put my tv on. I can't wall-mount my television, so that isn't an option. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hmmm, this is a temporary solution, but it sounds like that's all your looking for. Anyways, would it be possible to put it on the floor directly in front of your tv? You could prop something underneath it in order to get the speakers pointing up towards the listening position. At least it's not in the way of the TV.

Can you can "wall-mount" the center channel?

Monoprice (and many others) sell speaker brackets for this application... Also perhaps the manufacturer of your speakers offers some brackets specially for your speaker.

A picture and speaker specs could help us help you

I had the center channel on a pair of cheap speaker stands and it sounded very hollow. I have the Sony SS-CN5000, which is a pretty big speaker. I could, maybe, put a shelf on the wall behind the tv and put the speaker on that. I think it needs something solid to be on.

What sizes are we talking about here?

1. TV- LCD or DLP
2. Center Channel - is it square

What type of TV, center channel, and stand do you have? It's hard to make suggestions without knowing what we're dealing with here. Is there any space between the top of your TV and the cabinet above it? Is there a cabinet above it?

Can you post a photo of the setup?

I had the same problem, I just cut two pieces of mdf board and painted them black to match my tv stand, then put rubber non slip stick ons on the bottom corners and then put the tv on top the boards. Works pretty good.

Why not just get some black MDF at Home Depot, cut it to be the same size as your TV base, spray paint it black, and stick it under your HDTV? I would think that'd raise it up enough to clear your center channel, and it'd be nearly invisible depending on your stand.

Alternatively you could just cut feet, etc in this manner for the same result.

*edit* Just saw D1-2005 posted the same thing.

Well here's my center channel installed using the manufacturer metal bracket

It definitely does not sound hollow... Perhaps the stand you were using had a tube with thin walls? My speaker is 21.8 lbs by the way

Buy an inexpensive stand to put the TV on (disconnect the base and the TV will mount to the stand. This should get you going You can find those stands for about 169.00 at Wal-mart.

I built a stand that sits behind the tv that the center speaker rests on. I would post a pic, but i'm at work at the moment.

Default Cheap and looks Good

I had the same problem, looked for while and went to lowes, they have a build your own furniture secton, with various color boards and round screw legs and you can make any size and as many shelves as needed, i made one 8 inches high, 24 inches long and color was cherry to match dresser, sat my tv on it and center under it and works fine, also will hold some weight. Oh and was a wopping 20.00 total compared to 100.00

Default Vertical Center Channel

So, I have started to read on vertical vs horizontal center channels so I am playing around with the center channel along side of my television. We'll see what happens.

Edit: That didn't take too long. Sounds muc better horizontal.

As someone mentioned earlier, just mount a simple, $10 wall shelf behind and above your set. That's what I'm currently using below:

I just got back from Lowes and they looked at me like I had a third eye when I mentioned what you were talking about.

Ricshoe, that looks very nice. But doesn't having the center channel so high affect the sound at all? i mean it's way above ear level, just curious.
