I'd be interested in American Pie on BD, but not at that price. I'll happily wait it out for Universal's US release.

Positive:
- Close-ups offer good sharpness and detail values.
- Solid contrast in isolated outdoor daylight shots.
Negative:
- Basically very soft / blurred and poor image detail.
- Generally very dark and monotonous image.
- Part are lightweight double contours and compression artifacts visible.
- Bright image areas are sometimes slightly noisy.
- Colors come for the dark picture is not on the application.
- Generally flat image with very little actual depth.
- Only a very minimal increase compared to standard DVD.

The image of 'American Pie' is especially one thing: a lot, and we really my MUCH too dark! Only have a short look at the preview pictures (see right) of our high-def screenshots shows how dark the image of the film on Blu-ray rüberkommt. The gloomy picture is especially when such an unusual teen comedy acts and not just misplaced but after a short time is very tiring for the eyes. Of course, affects the poor contrast ratio very negative impact on the overall image, but also otherwise lacks the image sharpness, detail and the effect of plastic is a film on Blu-ray usually wishes. Instead, you have here with a generally soft / little detailed picture living in the lightweight double also outlines and slight compression artifacts (at large colors) can be seen. A real increase over the previous standard DVD versions is here in this picture scarcely perceptible presentation.
