Hi Guys
I am new here so forgive me if this is a common question but i can't find it with a forum search. I have a BD 50 player which i bought a month or 2 ago (forgive me as time just flys by far to quick) and yesterday while watching a blu ray it clipped my speakers so bad i don't know how it did not blow some of the drive units out of the casings. I have a pair of mission 753 i's which i have had for about 13 yr's or so and still serve their purpose well so i dont want to destroy them now(i use them as rears). Fronts are kef iq 90's which i don't want destroyed either. I remember reading about this somewhere before but can't find the articile again. can someone tell me what causes this and how i can stop it from happening again (if at all). Many thanks and great forum. |

May have been a DTS bomb. What movie were you watching? What BD player and receiver do you have?
The easiest fix has been to update the firmware on the receiver. However, it would be a good idea to update the firmware on the player as well. When DTS-HD MA is bitstreamed, it used to be able to cause a loud pop or bomb that could damage speakers. Updating your electronics to the latest firmware should take care of it. Give some more detail and we'll know for sure if it was that or something else. |

I'm not familiar with that receiver, but the Panny BD50 does bitstream DTS-HD MA and TRUEHD to the player. "What Happens in Vegas" is a DTS-HD MA title. If you were bitstreaming DTS-HD MA and experienced that audio pop, then I'd definitely say it was the bitstream bomb. It occurred when bitstreaming DTS-HD MA. I'd look up the manufacturer's website for a firmware upgrade for the receiver.
In the meantime you could try sending it out via PCM and see if it duplicates. |

I see the USA update but nothing for over here on their UK site and can't download USA firmware without a USA postcode so Just have to wait for the UK one. As usual we are about a century behind everyone else when it comes to getting everything. Thanks anyway, at least i know there must be a new software update on its way.
By the way, how do i put the update into the amp when there is no ethernet cable. I must check, maybe it has a usb slot i can use. Cheers guys. |
