I have seen external Bluray drives for computers. I never tried those so I cannot tell for sure but I would suppose such drive would be the answer to your question.
Now if I have seen these drives here in Europe, I'm sure you must have them too. |

You have several options...
1) Throw a fit with HP for selling you a product that wasn't even properly supported throughout the warranty period, and see if you can convince them to send you a BD combo drive. (Almost certainly won't work, but since they offered those drives, and not Blu-ray at that time, I would do it just to give them a headache.) 2. Get an external Blu-ray drive that connects via USB2. There's only a few models out there, but an internal drive can be put in an external enclosure for that purpose. Below is one already in the enclosure: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827136150 3. Replace the internal drive yourself. On HP notebooks, it's not very hard and all you need is a very small screwdriver. Then, just replace the optical drive with a BD drive such as: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827118009 Note the internal drive I linked to is cheaper but that's mostly because that drive is a "combo" drive (can read and write DVDs and CDs but only read BDs, while the external drive is a full BD burner, if that matters to you. Also, if you replace the internal drive, you need to get one with the right connector. You didn't mention your model number, but I'm fairly sure all the HP models available with HD DVD used EIDE so that's why I linked to that model. Anyway, hope that helps. |
