Default I have a Yamaha RX-V1400 and...

What will be of the same quality or better and output up to 7.1 channels on hdmi? This one I have now is 110 watts per channel and I have a PS3. Thanks. Dennon and Yamaha will be find.

I'm not sure, but I think the Yamaha 1700or 2700 will work.

Thanks. I think I might go the Denon route and spend $700 or less for the Denon AVR-887.

One warning... MAKE SURE IT ACTUALLY DOES 6.1 AND 7.1 FROM HDMI!!! Apparently, and I learned this earlier this week, only a few recievers do PCM 6.1 and 7.1. And I don't think the RX-V2700 does. Don't know about the Denon ones but I do know they make some that detect 7.1.

This is what I found on AVS:

Quote:
6) Level 5 receivers that process 7.1 channels of uncompressed lossless HDMI PCM formats.
Examples: All latest HDMI Denons. Yamaha RX-V1700 and higher. Pioneer Elite 81TXV and higher.(possibly more, see annotation).

If you look in the instruction manuals for Yamaha's RX-V2600 and I believe the 2700, it says it accepts PCM 5.1 only. The easiest way to tell is from the pictures of the display on the reciever. If it shows a diagram of you're normal 6 channels and a sub, then it wont do 6.1 or 7.1 PCM. If it actually has a diagram for 7.1 channels, then it probably does PCM 6.1 and 7.1. The Denon mentioned before does actually do 7.1 and so do most above the $700 price range (however some are only 80 watts per channel).
