Default IRON MAN, where there any reported defects with the audio?

We all know Iron Man was recalled, and I heard a problem with playing on certain players.

Well I was at my friends house last night, and while watching Iron Man, I noticed the Denon 589 receiver it was displaying Pro Logic. We played with it alittle and all we could get was PL or Neo6. We checked the settings on the disc and it was set to Dolby 5.1. Wondering if it was the settings on the ps3, we popped in 5 other Paramount Blus. All went straight to Dolby. Tried a few games, went straight to DTS.

Why is it Iron Man will only play on Pro Logic? Defect disc?

The Denon you listed has no support for the HD codecs, to hear the disc audio in its HD format you must connect via HDMI and set the PS3 to Linear PCM.

Edit> if you have it set correct it should say "Multichannel" or something similar.

The Denon AVR-589 cannot accept audio via HDMI. I assume he is connected via Toslink (optical). Make sure the PS3 is set to bitstream under BD/DVD settings (not LPCM). If you've done all that and you're still not getting Dolby Digital 5.1, contact Paramount.

I believe the "defected" disc UPC ended in 747 while the re-issued one ended in 709. NOTE: If there was a UPC sticker attached only to the shrink wrap and you threw it away, or cannot recall if it had a UPC sticker on it or not, this may not help.

I'm not entirely sure, but I think the issues with the recalled disc has to do with straight-up compatibility, not audio issues.

I have an Integra DTC-9.8 Pre. My friend called me last night to tell me to make sure that "Late Night" is set to off when playing Iron. He read about that issue somewhere online. The audio track comes to life after I changed the "L Night" setting from auto to off. If you have that feature on your Pre or Receiver, make sure you check the setting so that "L Night" or "Late Night" is set to off. I think there is something configured in the Iron Man audio track that utilizes this feature and results in less than stunning audio.

Edit: I found the source of the DRC error: http://www.ultimateavmag.com/moviere...092608ironman/

but like i said, with all his other blus and ps3 games, it will say its playing in either DTS or Dolby. With iron man, its the only time all he can get is pro logic.

I know someone already said this, but are you 100% sure it's set to bitstream and not PCM for the audio out put? Did the other Paramount Blu-Ray's have Dolby TrueHD tracks on them? You said they went to Dolby, you do mean Dolby Digital, right? Did you try any of the other audio tracks on the Iron Man Blu-Ray? It sounds like the PS3 is set up to decode Dolby TrueHD to me, which will only give you stereo over optical. I can't see there being one disc released with only a stereo track instead of a TrueHD track.

After waiting delays on Netflix, I believe they sent one of the post-recall copies that now INFORMS you that the disk downloads 20 minutes of BD-Live content beforehand (which, at the moment, would be a trivia game), and offers you a chance to opt out.

I have a similar experience with a Marantz 8001 receiver and an LG blu ray player. I have also tested the problem at a local high end HT store (on other equipment including Anthem). In all cases regardless of the settings the best we could do with a non-Dolby Digital True HD receiver is Pro Logic. The same issue happens with Indiana Jones. Paramount did not include an ENGLISH Dolby Digital track on either Iron Man or Indiana Jones. The Spanish and French tracks are DD and sound a lot better. I guess Paramount wants us to buy new equipment. Has anyone heard a reply from Paramount on this?
