Default AMD AthlonX2 Dual Core BE-2350 Not Enough?!?

I ran the Cyberlink BD Advisor and its showing my AMD Athlon(tm) X2 Dual Core Processor BE-2350 as unknown for bluray compatibility.
Is it enough given that i am using a Nvidia 8600GT and 2gb ram (vista)?

What is the 2350BE? Did you mean 8350 or 9350? Can you clarify? One of the big things about the Cyberlink BD Advisor is that it never recognizes my 9600GT 512mb as well. However, it plays my blu-ray and HD-DVD disk flawlessly. It seems the software only recommends a certain type of video card from Nvidia. It usually comes up with a bunch of circles that should turn green for approval of the various hardware on your system. Do you have the most up-to-date drivers from Nvidia? They just came out with some new drivers in October. Tell me more about your system and let me know if this processor,2350, is correct. Lastly, I do know that BE is Black Edition.

That's a relatively low end processor for Blu-ray playback. You may need to upgrade to something a little better.

Anything Dual-Core coupled with a video card that removes much of the processing should be fine for Blu-ray playback. I imagine you'd do just fine with that setup. Sure, it might tax more percentage of processor time on your system than a high Megahertz Core 2 duo, so maybe multitasking during 1080p BD playback wouldn't be so great, but actually watching the movie should be damn fine. The 8600gt actually had the most advanced video processing capabilities of the Geforce 8 series. Yes, better than the 8800's.

here is a link to an article that used a 2.4ghz core 2 duo

Your performance shouldn't be much worse.

I would think about going with a 5000+ or above. I have this processor(2.6Ghz) overclocked to 3.0Ghz and it is running at 49C. Even at the core speed Blu-Ray ran flawlessly. In addition, check to see if your motherboard will accept a hight dual core speed. Then, go get a cheap one from like newegg.com or pricewatch.com. That processor is dual core, but you need some more punch. The one above that I purchased is down to about $60.00 retail. Good luck poof.

Hi,

I have a similar set up (Opteron 170 2.0GHz x2) and the Blu-ray plays flawlessly.

FYI, here is a screen shot of BD Advisor.
