Default Prison Break About to be Cancelled

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/...44c69c15574339

'Prison' break may be on the way
Speculation surrounds two additional episodes

By Nellie Andreeva
The end could be near for "Prison Break."

The actors on the Fox drama have been notified by 20th TV that the filming schedule might be extended to accommodate production of two additional episodes.

"Prison" writers are yet to pitch ideas about the extra hours, but speculation is that they might serve as a conclusion to the four-year series.

If the two episodes are made, their fate is unclear as the network has not committed yet to air them, though conversations with the studio are under way.

Fox might run the bonus material as two additional episodes in the spring, though that is considered unlikely because "Prison" has struggled in the ratings this fall and the remaining six episodes of its original 22-show order weren't on the network's recently released midseason schedule.

A more plausible scenario has Fox airing the two episodes as a two-hour "event" next season, not unlike the "24" prequel this fall. Or the episodes might end up on the "Prison Break" DVD.

Very interesting! I was a big fan of the first season, the second one was okay, but now I am growing tired of the show and am content to wait for the blu-ray seasons (I stopped watching aired episodes or episodes online). I would welcome an end to it, especially if it was written well.

NOOOO!!!! This is BS! What are they going to cancel next, Lost?

I hope they change their minds. They said it was going to go up until season 5, why did they change their mind?

Ratings are really low and the storyline has become so farfetched when you think about how they began in season 1 and where they are now...I'll still watch it until the end though

I don't know about the ratings but the reviews at IGN have been good. I knew it was coming to an end because they're close to the sixth Scylla card but I just didn't expect it to be over this soon.

The 1st season was interesting in it's concept and execution but they've long since jumped the shark.

You are aware that Lost's end has already been announced right? They're filming 2 more seasons and then it's all over. It won't end before the 2 seasons air, and it won't go beyond them either. It's written in stone.

Prison Break is one of those shows that needs a definitive ending too. If that's what they're doing here, then I'm all for it. Finish out season 4 and then follow it up with a 2 hour series finale to wrap it all up. Sounds perfect to me.

Prison Break was one of my favorite shows, LOST is my fav tho.. I enjoyed the first three seasons.. i just couldnt get into the fourth season, and havent watched another episode since the season premiere, it seem's like it should be over by now, they just keep thinking of way's to keep it goin, and it just doesnt interest me.., the fact that "Sarah" is back, i thought was stupid, maybe i would be interested still if Micheal was after the people who killed her,you know, sorta a good revenge story to keep Prison Break goin... but maybe they should do a SPIN-OFF for "Theodore Bagwell aka / T-Bag" -- id watch that lol

As bad as lost was last season I wish they would cancel it. That way they could write a real conclusion and get the focus back.

It was easily the worst season of the 4. And 3 was the second worst. It used to be fun and exciting and had a plan. Now, it seems as if they have no plan and were writing it week to week. They seem to think they can answer a question by giving us three more questions.

Thumbs up

I'm a huge Prison Break fan, but this sounds like great news to me. The very nature of the show demands that the story come to an end. It's not a perpetually ongoing concept. And the fact that FOX is giving them a 2-part series finale on top of the regular season order is a great way to give the show a definitive ending that won't leave the fans hanging. I'm actually excited to read this. I was concerned the show would eventually be dropped with no payoff.

Weird...it seemed pretty clear that this was the final season of Prison Break anyway. Maybe I misunderstand the article. Have they finished filming all the Season 4 episodes? Or are they only halfway through and originally scheduled to be on a mid-season hiatus soon? If Season 4 is completely in the can, an extra two hours seems like a fairly nice way to let them tie up the series. If they're only at the midway point and are now forced to squeeze 11 episodes into a 2-hour finale, then I'd have to say it really sucks.

I didn't catch much of Seasons 2 or 3 but I've been enjoying 4, regardless of how implausible it all seems. It's good, goofy fun if you don't think about it too hard.

Sigh. This is what happens to shows, when they're on TV.
If only they were like movies and ended when there was no more money to be made.
Like the Star Wars saga, Friday the 13th or Godzilla
Crap. I think I may have contradicted myself.

I really liked the show when it first came out, but Fox put that 6 month break between parts of the first season for some reason, and I lost interest.

Now I cant get into it, because i dont understand how there could still be a show based on breaking out of prison, when they are not in prison. Seems like a one or two season show to start with.

Because it's a continuous story. Just because they successfully escaped prison doesn't mean their story is over. They're simply fugitives at that point. They still have to ellude recapture, clear their names, seek revenge on those who framed them, try to regain some semblence of their former lives, etc, etc. Again, don't get hung up on the show's title. It has no bearing whatsoever on whether or not the show's content is entertaining. It's just a label, not a plot summary.
