RX-V1800 for $899 CDN

Thought I'd post this in case someone was interested in upgrading their current receiver.

My audio dealer has this A/V unit on sale (was $1,299) and I can tell you this represents an excellent value. The RX-V1800 is one dynamite unit and comes highly recommended by a lot of people (here and elsewhere).

I am enjoying my yamaha 5950, not as spectacular as that one,but it came with a 6 unit speaker package I bought off a pal for 150$.

Great for a den! Sub adds so much everything!

Thanks for the info. I am thinking of upgrading my receiver and am trying to decide between a higher end Yamaha or a Marantz. Price on this unit is definitely a plus.

That's approximately the going price in Canada right now, same here (Regina).

Be aware that if you're going to run HDMI video through it, there's some minor concern (by video purists) that it doesn't pass the full BTB and WTW spectrum. It's extremely minor, and my understanding is that unless you're REALLY picky, you would never know the difference.

Good to know. Although, as long as it has the option of passing the video w/o processing it at all, I'd be ok with it. I'd rather have my projector doing the video processing.
