I have a Pioneer plasma and in the manual it read that hooking up via dvi to hdmi or just hdmi would probably fail and sure enough it did soon after I hooked it up via dvi-to-hdmi so I just went back to using the pc vga input. Manual said if one must hook up via hdmi or dvi to hdmi to contact customer support. Oh and my Pioneer's pc vga input only supports up to 19-- x 1080 so as the previous post, your graphics card might have something to do with it. Hope this helps.

1. hook your PC up to a monitor using the standard VGA cable...
if that works
2. update all your graphics card's drivers and software from the manufacturer's website. (try windows update first). Then, try hooking your PC back up to the plasma...

if this doesn't work

2. it's a new pc you said, so you have 1 year of limited support through the manufacturer (if it's a dell, hp, gateway, sony, toshiba, acer, asus, compaq or any other real brand). I would contact them and ask, WTH?

A. My guess is that your graphics card in your new PC is not setup to work through HDMI yet... Your PC may not have the HDMI driver installed yet...look up the model of your PC on yahoo! or google, and find out the graphics card model.

B. Are you using your PC's graphics options to change video output on your pc when it starts up right away??

Also, make sure your desktop is set to a resolution your tv supports.
