Default Good News

If this has already been posted I'm sorry.
http://www.trustedreviews.com/tvs/ne...ormat-Sales/p1

The latest figures according to US trade mag 'Home Media Magazine' state that during Q1 2007 nearly 1.2m pre-recorded Blu-ray and HD DVD titles were sold but the former was responsible for 832,530 of these. By contrast HD DVD managed just 359,300 discs.

Even worse for Tosh's format, by March it was making up only about one third of all HD titles bought with 335,980 for Blu-ray and 119,570 for HD DVD. The reading is just as grim in the Top Chart 10 HD Chart where it claims eight of the 10 slots were filled by Blu-ray titles.

One of the major weapons in Blu-ray's locker (other than the PS3) is the Blu-ray only release of surprise hit and all round cracking James Bond movie Casino Royale (the card game isn't too long). That said, even when major releases were available on both formats Blu-ray came out on top. In the case of The Departed, for example: 53,640 copies to 31,590.

The big question remains however does this mean Sony will finally get revenge for the failure of Betamax in this latest format war? I would suggest, with the PS3 still new in the marketplace, it remains too early to tell. So what we have here is a guide, just a very premature one...
