Default Nick's brand new HT (and car now)

So I've been kind of lurking around here for a while now. I found this website about half way through my designing of my HT setup. But to start from the beginning.

My name is Nick. I live in Michigan. I'm a recent grad of WMU (April '08) with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. I work in Holland, MI now, where I grew up. I recently closed on a new house, and have owned it for just over two weeks as of right now. I uploaded my pictures to my HT Album. Check them out if you wouldn't mind, and feel free to give constructive criticism or any other comments for that matter. Thanks guys, and I love the website, I'm officially addicted.

All of the equipment is brand new.
Samsung LNT4671F 46" LCD
Denon 2809CI AV Receiver with Ipod Dock
PS3 80GB
Xbox 360 Elite
Monster HDP1800
Motorolla DCH3416 HD DVR Cable Box
Klipsch Speakers all around
B-3 Fronts
C-2 Center
S-2 Surrounds
Sub-12
All monoprice wires and cables.

When I moved into this house this room was kind of a smurf blue. Thanks to one coat (yes only one coat, no primer) of Benjamin Moore paint, the room is now "Soul Chocolate" and has a nice warm feeling to it. I had to fish the wires for the rear surrounds myself. My dad helped me out quite a bit, but was questioning me the whole time. He kept on saying "I hope this is all worth it!" In the end, when it was done, calibrated and everything else, we watched a movie. He was so surprised by the incredible sound, and the sweet picture. My mom was even impressed!! and that's saying something. But anyways, I am definitely loving it. Let me know what you think! Thanks!

I agree for the size of a room I would go with a huge DLP or Plasma

Thanks for the compliments guys. I'm with you on the bigger tv. I am also planning on getting floor standing speakers. There is a little back story behind both though.

I told you that I just bought this house two weeks ago. Before that, I was very close to buying a different house about two and a half months before this one. So I was watching for sales and closeouts for stuff for that house. The room that would have been used in that house for the HT had a ton of windows looking out west over a man-made lake/pond, hence the LCD. And the way the room would have been set-up, a 46" would have been just right. The room also only would have allowed for use of bookshelf speakers, it had a ton of built-in bookshelfs on either side of where the tv would have been.

Turns out the bank must not have wanted to sell me that house, cause they just stopped talking to me. So I started looking for a different house, but by this time, I'm past the date to return the previously purchased tv and speakers! So I had to work with these items. Then I found this house, which I actually like more, and required less work on my part to move in. With a different seating position now, I definitely need a bigger tv, and want floorstanding speakers. I just have to cool my spending for a while, and maybe in a year get a bigger tv, and this time it would probably be a bigger plasma! considering the room only has the one small window looking east, which is easy to cover up too.

Sorry for the long post guys, just a little bit that I wanted to get off my chest from frustration of working with that bank.

Anyways, thanks so much for the compliments! I'm very happy as well with how the paint turned out. Everybody doubted me when I told them what I wanted to do, but they all love it now when they see it in person. lol

Potential? What would you do differently? I'm open to suggestions for decorating at least for now. I spent enough on the room already, everything that's in there now is going to stay pretty much as is for quite a while I think. Thanks.

Thanks leov, and thanks for the rating too. I'm extremely pleased with what I have right now, just a little disappointed with the proportions of how it turned out. It will be at least a year or two I think before I make any major changes. Unless I find a deal on floorstanding speakers, then the bookshelf speakers will move upstairs somewhere. I've got too many addictions already, I don't know if I can afford to go overboard with this one as well, haha. I'll have to post pictures of my car too sometime.

I like it..... it's nice..... that room deserves a prjection system! I have Klipsch speakers as well. Check out the way I hid the wiring on my rear wall mounted speakers. Something like that would look great in your room too if you chose the right fabric.
