Why not smaller than bigger?

Why do they continue to make media as big they can storage wise, but don't try to make them smaller in physical size. As much as egerly await blu-ray, I would rather see dvd's and cd's at a much smaller size. Somewhat like the new pocket cd's, but with the same storage size as the 5 inch.
