Default switching out of MULTI CH IN 7.1

I cant get my reciever to go to Pllx music (or cinema). When I pust the music or cinema on my remote nothing happens. The part of the manuel to my Denon 2807 that I was reading basically says to push the surround parameter button and on the SB select cenima or music, ect, But when Im in MULTI CH IN 7.1 the surround back option dosnt show up. When I am not playing the a game it will still show MULTI CH IN 7.1 but plays in 2 ch. Can you please help me? I want to put my reciever on DTS Neo 6 music to play the music so sound is coming from all the speakers, instead of playing music in 2 channels. When I am in using opticle and am on dolby digital I would have no problem switching it to DTS cinema or pllx movie. When Im scrolling through the XMB my reciever will say MULTI CH IN 7.1 but will only play in 2 ch. I do understand that the music is not supposed to play in 5.1 or 7.1 unless it supports that format, so thats why I want to switch to DTS Neo 6 music or Dolby Pllx music.

Are you using HDMI?

input? my speakers are connected to the terminals with speaker wire. I am trying to listen to music that is saved on my ps3s hardrive. I want to switch to dts neo 6 music or pllx music so I could listen with all the spekaers not just 2 ch.I do understand that the music is not going to play in 5.1 or 7.1, so it plays in 2ch.

ok, you're using the ps3 and trying to listen to music saved on the hard drive while using an hdmi connection.

do you have any other hdmi devices? do these present a problem?

i assume you are using bitstream output? if not, i may give that a try (or vice versa)

its on LPCM. I am only using the HDMI from the ps3 to the denon 2807 reciever. I do not own an HDTV.

ok, give bitstream a shot. while i dont know the specs on that receiver, it may be that pcm does not allow you to change any of the dsp settings.

I don't know if PS3 and the 360 are the same when it comes to music, but the stream stays in 5.1, and the music just stays stereo. Unless you're using an analog connection, then you can use pro-logic surround or neo 6.

nope didnt work. I can (and was able to before) switch to like super stadium, video games, rock arena etc, but not the pllx and dts music and cinema.

Flip your remote over and open the door. Look at the blue buttons. The only ones that you can select when you are inputting Multi Ch audio are simu, which enables 5CH stereo, and d/st, which will enable Multi Ch. direct audio. Selecting 5Ch stereo seems like that may do what you want.

Right, because it's sending a 5.1 signal over. Which means you can still use the DSP modes (like super stadium, video games, rock arena etc) but not Pro-Logic II or Neo: 6 because those are meant for 2 channel sources. Try connecting your PS3 using just the RCA jacks (the red and white output). Then the source will be 2.0 and you can use the other DSP modes.
