Default No Suprise...Favre Retires Part 2

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/9206376/Sources:-Favre-informs-Jets-that-he's-retiring?MSNHPHMA

i only hope he does what's right and retires a Packer in the end much like Rice did w/the 49ers.

I love Brett Favre, but the past four or five years of NFL offseasons have been painful to watch, what with all the drama Favre keeps creating. Either f-ing retire or don't.

Being from WI, I can say that I hate Favre (and no, I'm not a Packers fan). True, he's a great QB, but the fact of the matter is he's a conceited jerk. Plus, he dragged out the "retirement" talks for months last year. Every time I turned on the news, it was aomething new about him. SO ANNOYING! Just go away all ready, Brett!

I am a die hard Bears fan, but he was a great quarter back. I think that when he went to the Jets his best years were already behind him and it was time to call it quits. He shouldve retired a cheesehead.

Lol ill believe it when the season starts and there is not a peep from or about Favre in the media. And talk about putting the Jets in a pinch, availible qb's are slim pickings atm.

Well, he did inform the Jets a lot quicker the he did when he was with the Packers.

I wonder what the jets are thinking right now?

I still think they're crazy for getting rid of pennington. He may not be elite but when healthy he has proven to be good. Just look at what he just did with miami.

If the jets go over .500 i'd be surprised.

hopefully its for good this time, it was pretty obvious his career was done when the jets picked him up, not that im hating on the jets, but just the fact that the packers wanted nothing to do with him when he came back even though he pretty much WAS the packers for years and years and years

it was time for a change. and judging rodgers performance this last year, it was the right time for that change.

Just saw this on ESPN and they also said the Packers are gonna draft USC qb Mark Sanchez. Sure wish Favre would have gotten to go to the Vikings or Bears, oh well.

whoever said that doesn't know a whole their @$$ from a hole in the ground.

we've got 2 college standouts as backups and a new defense being implemented. our primary need is gonna be a defensive starter for our new 3-4 def. or an Off. lineman.

FWIW - Favre haters need to recognize that he can still play this game at a nearly elite level, if not at a "way better than average" level.

He was #11 in passing yards (with those craptastic receivers), #9 in TD passes (again, with some mediocre hands catching those lasers), and #5 in percentage of passes caught. How he accrued those stats this season with his corps is nothing short of outstanding. As with any gunslinger type QB, you're going to have to take the good with the bad. In Favre's case, the INTs probably frustrate a lot of people, but he's still a top-notch QB, and a hell of a better option than just about any NFL QB right now with the exception of the absolute best -- i.e. the ones that are in their primes (and who quite un-coincidentally have the best receivers as well).
