Default Favre to Return...but not to Packers

Brett Favre has asked the Packers to release him:

http://blogs.jsonline.com/packers/ar...lease-him.aspx

Seems he wanted to return, Packers were not too enthusiastic on having him back, so he asked to be released from contract. So he will return to play, on whatever team he picks that will have him.

Us cheeseheads are pretty cheesed about this.

Who are you cheesed at? Favre or the Packers? I would be cheesed with Favre, you can't keep retiring then coming back. The Packers need to move on and build their next franchise quarterback.

Well, if he's coming back, which team will hire him? I would almost say the Seahawks would be interested, but he probably wouldn't accept a backup role. I just can't picture him playing anywhere else, but the man has skills and he can still get the job done.

Bears or Bucs will be his destination.

Logically between the two, The Bucs make more sense. I'm sure Favre wouldn't mind working with Gruden. If I'm not mistaken, Gruden worked under Holmgren at Green Bay.

Update: Gruden DID work under Holmgren and the Bucs and the Packers run the same offense. So, the Bucs would indeed be a great fit for Favre.

The Packers might not even release him. Do you guys think they will let him go, or will they wait and see how Aaron Rodgers first few games go?

I hope it's not the Bears. They are currently the only team in the division the Lions can beat.

After the season Favre and the Packers had last year, they should bring him back. But they're worried that they are ruining Rodgers for the future.

I think he would fit in great with the Chicago Bears.

Cold weather, great defense, sweet running back and receivers, open QB position...

Damn it, I said no to the Bears! The Lions deserve to have Farve out of the division.

BTW, crack, who else is in the "geeksquad"?

Arizona Cardinals would also be a nice retirement team for him to go to!

...although I think his shot for any Superbowl title is gone. He might of had a chance with the Packers had he not retired. But now its hopeless.

It'd be pretty cool to have him down here in Tampa Bay. We haven't had a good quarterback in . . . wait . . . ever? I may even have to go to a game if that happens.

I'd be surprised if they just release him. At least if they trade him, they have some say as to where he goes.

If he goes to the Bears, that division is theirs imo.

Brad Johnson did lead them to the promised land in super bowl xxxvii...but you could debate that it was the defense that carried them.
