I'm thinking about getting this game. I prefer the slow deliberate pace of turn based games. I'm concerned b/c the patches made the game go faster or something and I want to make sure the patched game/expansion can be played on a super slow speed.

I bought it based on hype and was sorely disapointed.

Nevermind the lack of any campaign (I was hoping they would release that later, didn't happen), the sandbox play consists of all the ennemies ganging up on you asap.

Personally, like you, I like to take my time in strategy games, explore, buld fleets, engage in diplomacy, etc.

If that's your cup of tea, Sins is the countrary in my experience.

Had to deactivate pirates because they attack constantly (gotta love an option that the devs tell you to deactivate to make the game more fun), and al lthe other races gang you also constanttly as soon as they can, making you hav to develop war techs all the time.

Got old very -very- fast.

Not even worth the $40 I paid for it imo, but with the number of people who seem to like it (and many titles of Strategy Game of the year 2008), it could be just me ...
Could be also that people liking that game are only about the MP, which to me is a side dish, not the main reason to buy a game.
