Call of Duty 4 vs. Killzone 2

Now that we've had the chance to play Killzone 2 and Call of Duty 4, which FPS do you think is better overall. Personally I liked Killzone's campaign more than COD 4's, but COD 4's multiplayer is way better in my opinion. I voted for COD 4 just because I still play it til this day and I don't think I'll be playing Killzone for going on 1 year and a half.

BINGO!! Thats why i voted for killzone 2, COD was a great game that I still play from time to time( talk about $60 well spent )but I think killzone brought it up a notch!

Yup, no one is calling COD4 a bad game and people appear to get defensive when it gets compared to Killzone 2. I don't see what the big deal is.

Just because Killzone 2 is a better game doesn't suddenly make COD4 a bad game.

KZ2 is a good game, something different, but it will not have the long term success of COD4. its the flavor of the month for a lot of people!

I disagree (about the flavor of the month comment) and I prefer CoD4 (slightly) over KZ2 (as of right now)!

I definitely think K2 stepped it up a notch. I knew this game was special when I was getting shot at and I could pin point the Helghast by looking at the bullet holes on the wall and pieces of the wall were falling down.... still I just have more fun seeing +10 every time I kill someone in COD4 lol.

First of all it has a class system to it. You can choose from 7 classes and switch out the secondary ability from another class once its unlocked.


Rifleman:
The default multiplayer character is assigned when no primary badge is selected. A secondary badge may still be added. Riflemen can start with most weapons, except for the specialized ones.

Engineer:
Primary badge ability: Sets up an automated turret which targets the enemy.
Secondary badge ability: Repairs ammunition dispensers, mounted guns, and automated turrets.

Medic:
Primary badge ability: Revives downed team mates.
Secondary badge ability: Throws a health pack, which can be picked up by other players.

Scout:
Primary badge ability: Uses a cloaking suit to become near-invisible.
Secondary badge ability: Tags all on-screen enemy players with a hidden marker, which broadcasts their coordinates to team mates.

Assault:
Primary badge ability: Dons heavy armour twice as strong as normal.
Secondary badge ability: Temporarily boosts running speed.

Tactician:
Primary badge ability: Throws a coloured smoke grenade, which serves as a spawn point.
Secondary badge ability: Requests air support from a sentry bot which targets the enemy.

Saboteur:
Primary badge ability: Assumes the disguise of a randomly selected enemy player.
Secondary badge ability: Throws a sticky, proximity-activated C-4 charge.


Thats only the classes. Not only do you have variety with classes with unique abilities associated with them, but also you can have squads. You can have up to 6 squads with a max of 4 people. While in the squad you can speak with everyone in your squad as well as respawn on the squad leader.

Also the way they have clans setup makes it very easy to communicate and play with your clan. Also with the friends list makes it very easy as well. Not only that, but also you can see what they are doing as well.

Also at Killzone.com you can replay your previous multiplayer games up to the last 8 games I believe.

I'm still up in the air about this one. I've been playing so much KZ2 multiplayer that I've only gotten to the 3rd level of the singleplayer! That being said, CoD4's singleplayer engaged me more than KZ2 but the multiplayer on both is superb. Right now, slight edge to CoD4, but I'll hold my final judgment to later.

I voted CoD4. It has been so addicting since I first got it over a year ago. Didn't really get down with KZ2, hooked on CoD4. The community alone is a testament to the great gameplay of Call of Duty 4.

Still too tough to call. I don't think Killzone really reinvented or upped the bar at all, especially compared to CoD4.

Rocket launchers, spawn grenades, assault class all ruin a multiplayer experience that could've been extremely exceptional, but instead it knocks the multiplayer down a notch and greatly hinders the love I want to give to the multiplayer.

CoD4 perfected the multiplayer experience this generation, and I think Killzone would've exceeded those perfections if it hadn't been ruined by the inclusion of those items mentioned above.
