Default Samsung LN40A550 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV

I currently have a Westinghouse 32" 720p TV. I am looking to upgrade. I found this one on Amazon for $799, it seems like a great deal. I am just wondering if it will be a huge upgrade from what I have because I was looking to get a 42" but this is a 40", but a great deal. Also my room is like 10ftx10ft. I play xbox360 and ps3, and I also watch blurays. I want to know if anyone has this TV if it's worth it.

Edit: Also I love football, so will football look spectacular on it? Somewhere they said it was only 60Hz so it wouldn't look as good?

I had the LN40A550 before i went to a 46" 650. The 550 had amazing picture with some pretty good black levels. The only thing i didn't like about it was it was hard to remove a sort of "greenish shadow" without messing with blacks and color to much. Overall it is a great TV and would be a huge upgrade from your westinghouse. Its easily one of the best non-120hz TVs.

I'm very happy with my 550. Only regret i have is it doesn't truly support 24p since it's a 60hz set for Blu rays. But it looks really good. I can't believe it's $799 now, you don't even want to know what i payed for mine.

Blu rays will still look good, 24p has to do with the frame rate most movies are shot in. 24p means 24 progresive frames per second, sometimes reffered to as 24hz.

I'm linking this not because I'm lazy but because i can't explain it to you as well as these articles can:
ok so I'm a little bit lazy so both.

What is 24p?

What displays support it?

right now when I'm watching my tv I am about 9ft from it. It is a 32inch. It is a little small in my opinion, so will a 40" be better from 9ft, or should I need bigger? Also how does college and nfl football games look on this tv?

I watch my display at 9 feet witch is just right for my display size !!
The 40 inch would be 7-8 feet !!

I sat about 5-6 feet from the 40" and it was plenty big, the only reason i got the 46" 650 series is because it was nearly $200 cheaper than the 40" version. Football games will look great.

Sammy PQ is excellent. You will enjoy this Tv very much. As for the viewing distance for your primary seating postion, go with what crazyBlue said, about 7-8 feet should do the trick. Good luck on your purchase!
