I've had my PS3 since Christmas and my Panasonic TV (model TH-42PX75U) for a year and a half now, and I haven't ever experienced a problem with audio until now.
(My apologies for the length...) 2 weeks ago, I bought "Bolt" on Blu-Ray (the 3 disc edition that has the Blu-Ray disc, a standard DVD and a Digital Copy); as soon as I put the Blu-Ray into my PS3, from the moment the previews come up to the menu and the film itself, I get perfect picture but no audio what so ever. I figured it was my PS3, so I unplugged it and reset it but to no avail. I tried putting in the standard DVD and everything worked perfectly, audio and video, just not the quality I paid for. So I called Disney and they said it was most likely my PS3 not responding to the DTS-HD Master Audio codec that they use on their Blu-Ray discs; however, I've watched "Repo! The Genetic Opera" many times (it uses the same DTS-HD Master Audio codec) with no issues at all. Anyway, I went ahead and took the discs back to BestBuy and swapped it out for another just like it. I get home, put it in...and same thing happens. When I was on the phone with Disney's tech, he had me go through several audio codec options on my PS3, turning them off and on, and none of that worked. He basically said, "tough crap, brother" and sent me on my way. I'm fresh out of ideas and have no clue what to do now...so if anyone may be able to help, I would greatly appreciate it. As mentioned before, I have a Panasonic 42" TH-42PX75U plasma connected directly to a PS3 using an HDMI cable. I don't have a surround sound system or anything hooked up (once I can afford that, it's in the plan), so it's just Playstation straight to the TV. Thanks again for any help. |
