Default red blinking standby

hey guys, i think my sony lcd just broke. i had the tv for alil over two years and was watchin it earlier today. tonight i went to turn it on, the green power light came on then went to a blinking red standby light. anybody ever experience this? i looked in manual, and it said tv may need to be serviced. im so pissed, never had any problems with sony before and theres no reason a 2 yr old tv should be dead already. i gotta call tomorrow to find out how much this will cost(no warrenty) prob be easier to just go buy a new tv. damn you sony! any suggestions?

Have you tried unplugging the TV for at least 60 seconds and then plugging it back in. Try doing that then I would call Sony.

I feel your pain. Unfortunately these things happen with electronics. I have had great luck with Sony TV's and most electronic products for that matter in terms of reliability.

If you haven't called Sony.....do so. They may cut you some slack. The key though is to be calm and very polite. Getting angry will do no good.

Also, get another repair place to come out and look at it and give you an estimate. Prices are not always the same between companies.

As to parts.......do a google on "Sony Parts" and you will find places to buy just about anything. I will try to search for you. You will need to know the part number. Here is one place:

http://www.partstore.com/Model/Sony/...DL40V4100.aspx

Again.....these things happen with all things we buy.........cars being probably the worst.....I just had a fuel pump put in a Ford Taurus and it's costing me $850!!!!

I feel your pain man but 415.00 might seem like alot but I would seriously consider if this is something I would want to tackle on my own, plugging in a motherboard is simple enough but would need to be calibrated again if you change the motherboard.

I think I might want to get a new TV too in your situation. That said, $415 to repair/replace the PCB main board is pretty cheap. If you can't afford to buy a new TV, I wouldn't feel too bad about getting the repair done. I imagine you'll have trouble getting the part if you want to try and do it yourself, you have to be an authorized dealer to buy stuff like that usually.
