Help: Lossless Decoding

Im new to this forum and to HT, however I am looking to create a humble HT and Im not sure of the ins-and-outs of this stuff.

I have noticed when posters recommend a A/V receiver they mention the receiever should have be able to decode lossless audio(i think thats how its termed) my question is when researching different A/V recs what should I look for in reading the specs of the product that will alert me that model will decode lossless audio?
