Default Why doesnt Blu-ray advertise to educate people on Blu-ray?

I have read all there is on Blu-ray and Hd-dvd. I can clearly see that Blu-ray is the BEST choice and I tell everyone I know about it so they will know what it is when they see it. The problem is I cant tell everyone, So why dont they advertise what they are about to offer. I know its not out yet, but that would at least build up some more excitment about whats to come. You know, it may get people talking about it. I have placed long post explaining it and its supporters on PS3 forums and giving facts straight from this site and alot of people have never even heard of Blu-ray. I think we need to spread the word, big time.

That's interesting proposal. However I think they first need to give a firm date of releases, remember they first said the end of '05, before advertising. But you are right , most people have never heard of blu ray or next generation disk. Some marketing strategy is dearly needed. But one ace they do have is PS3 which should garner a lot of free publicity

advertisment like 'were better than you' really seems childish to most people i think. i mean Ford wins tons of awards for their vehicles but the only car groups showing off their awards are the ones that rarely get them, like 'Toyota wins Car & Driver award' this seems like a good thing to the uneducated person, but a BLu-Ray campain would probably only make people think that Blu-Ray's quality is too expensive or their format has been scared into 'im better than you' tactics; am i wrong?

Default Didnt say that.

I never said they need to say their better than anyone, only to educate people about what Blu-ray is. HD-dvd has it easy since their name says what it is, High def dvd. Blu-ray on the other hand doesnt. Theres nothing wrong with advertisment. You can't just hope everyone gets it or searches for themselves. You have to tell them what you have to offer or they may never know.

Yep, remember the advertisings on the DVD 5 years ago, they were great and really shown the possibilities of the DVD, why don't the Blu-Ray does that ? :?

I think you guys are jumping the gun. Can we at least wait until Blu-ray launches with actual movies and hardware before we expect it to be promoted? We're still at least six months out, I'm sure we'll see at least a little promo explaining the benefits of BD prior to the spring launch.

Seems little point promoting something you won't be able to buy for at least 6 months. Also, doing so may hurt dvd sales, (software + hardware), now. TBH, I stopped buying dvds a while ago knowing that Blu-Ray/HD-DVD was just around the corner. Don't see the point buying titles twice. For now I spend £12 a month hiring dvds from a net Co., unlimited, 2 at a time), until HD movies can be bought. Have enough dvds anyway which is another reason not to buy too many more. i.e. the more you have, the les time you have to wacth any one title. So for every new title I you buy, the less likely it is you'll watch it again, or rewatch older purchases.
