ps3 died and girlfriend says Blu-ray doesnt matter - Blu-ray Forum

Yeah my ps3 is about to get sent to Sony. I was talking about getting Inglorious Basterds when I get it back and she says that we should get it on dvd. Bluray doesnt make much of a difference. How crazy is that? I told her to buy the dvd and I will buy the bluray and we will compare them. But she still insists on just the dvd. How do I convert her if she isnt already?

How did your PS3 die? Yellow Light Of Death (YLOD)?

You can fix it yourself, if your so inclined.

Just remember this for when she wants an engagement ring. There's very little difference in the look between diamond and cubic zirconia, right?

This is a difficult question to answer and if you have already done an a/b comparison with dvd/bd then perhaps there is no convincing her.

I was fortunate in that my GF who usually doesn't notice (or care about) such things really took a liking to BDs right away. She could totally see the difference, and like me, will not go back to dvds again.

Why is this so surprising? While women are usually more observant than men, most of them aren't movie collectors and probably couldn't care less if there's a movie format out there better than DVD.

no offense to women on this site, but most girls honestly don't care. mine sees the difference as huge, but she doesn't care about that difference...she just enjoys a movie.

now for people who honestly don't see the difference, they truly do need their eyes checked. when i have glasses/contacts in the difference is ridiculous. but when i watch without my glasses (i usually don't wear them except for sporting events, movies, playing sports, or driving) i definitely can't tell the difference.

people...get your eyes checked just to be sure you are seeing the actual difference

Circuit City used to have a demo of A Knight's Tale where they had DVD on one side and Blu-ray on the other. The bar would slide from side to side showing you the difference. That's what I showed my wife.

You don't realize how lucky you are. If she doesn't care for BD's, then she will leave yours alone.

As long as she can cook, clean, and do her girlfriend/wife duties, you shouldn't complain.

Don't spend a lot of time comparing and contrasting DVD vs BD - she might take the time to try to explain to you the intricacies of the relationships on "Sex and the City" - life is too short for that.
