is van helsing any good? ive never seen it. is it worth owning on blu ray? if the movie is good what can you compare it to?

It's a dramedy about a monster slayer who falls in love with a princess, I think it's an excellent movie. If you like Kate Beckinsale, Hugh Jackman and Stephen Sommers, you should love this movie.

If you like the mummy, gi joe then you will like van hel sin, is pure action film. Not much of plot, very heavy use of special effect NON STOP ACTION.

I would rent it first, it was a terrible movie. The original Mummy was entertaining, but this movie was bad, just my opinion.

It's atrocious, but the kind of campy atrocious that I can stomach. But no, it's not good in the typical sense, and it's far too long.

I got the HD-DVD for $3 and after watching the movie, I felt ripped off.

I personally liked the movie, but I would rent first. I have it on DVD, and won't be upgrading!!!

Its a movie I am very interested in.Considering it has Kate Beckinsale in it,doesnt hurt at all.
Not sure how well the actors played their roles(charecters)in the film,but I see the Forum was not very kind on it,with the Review they Issued.

I will probably rent it before I make a purchase.Unless months from now I have forgotten about it and find it on sale for @ $15.00 or under.
Or,I may also pick-it-up,if I find it on the Forums Trading thread for a good price used($10-$12)

An upgrade for me. Already got rid of the dvd. Wife loves this movie. It also has a stellar picture ,4.5 stars.

It looks and sounds good, but unfortunately the film isn't that good. I saw it when it first came out and enjoyed it, but I haven't seen it for quite a while and when I watched the blu I just didn't find it that enjoyable. If you can find it cheap it's ok for 2 hours of no-brain popcorn film fun. Plus Kate Beckinsale always adds a certain something to a film. Especially when she wears leather

Yeah, definitely rent it. I love the movie, but am gonna wait for the best deal around Black Friday. Sure, the story could be stronger, but the actors make the film that much more entertaining. Its an enjoyable film.

5/5 for PQ, 4.5/5 for AQ and of course this is one of my favourite movies. Kate Beckinsale in tight leather in HQ is always a good thing. Not to mention Hugh Jackman just beating the crap out of everything that gets in his way is also a good thing.

I'm not sure. There aren't any extras not on the original DVD and the movie wasn't all that great. However, with the PQ being decent and it being $17 in my Gold Box, its tempting.

there was an ultimate edition that came w/copies of the original dracula & frankenstein movies that was released....don't know if those extras are on the blu though.

It was ok. Certainly not as great as I expected. But kinda corny fun.

It's funny that Hugh Jackmen is basically playing the exact same character as Wolverine.

I actually never finished the film, it was so bad and I couldn't take it anymore.
But I really wanted to like it as it has everything I love (dracula, wolfman, vampires) but it's not enough to be entertaining.

I love all those things too and I liked Sommers MUMMY flicks -- but this
was terrible on every level
