Default PS3 problem with HDMI and resynching

Hi all -

Have a PS3, Onkyo 605, and with one of the more recent firmware updates, every time the video or audio signal changes (e.g. a title change??), the PS3 resynchs with the receiver producing the telltale audible click while the receiver changes modes.

this is annoying and never happened in the past.

for Terminator 2: Skynet edition, every chapter skip actually causes this. If I fwd 5 chapters, it's "click, click, click, click, click" with a noticeable delay.

Anyone else notice this?

This has always happened to me with my PS3. A friend of mine has a PS3 as well and it does the exact same thing. The clicking happens when you load the movie, when the previews are through and it goes to main menu, from main menu to movie and then from movie back to the PS3 menu. We never get the clicking noise once inside the movie. I had searched high and low for people with this issue, but never saw any posts. I finally gave up and just decided to deal with it.

We both have the Yamaha RX-V463 (5.1 surround).

Default sorta

when i first got my onk 705 i used to have this happen all the time even with my direct tv changing channels or jus goin from movie to commercials. very annoying indeed problem wasnt actually a problem at all what it was is the onk was searching for the best possible dsp to match the audio being fed to it. the clicks were the dsp"s switching this was solved by going into the onk's set up menu and manually selecting a preferred dsp to be set at all times for each source (directv ps3 wii) the best one if ur using hdmi for audio on ur ps3 is mulitchannel. see if this works like i said i have a 705 not sure bout ur 605

The more I read about my Yamaha receiver the more depressed I get. I went through the settings and all I can do is select AUTO or DTS. In order to use DTS I have to set the PS3 to bitstream and that opens up a whole new can of worms.
