Cool Which "insect" CGI film is your favorite?

As much as I am a Pixar fan, "A Bug's Life" doesn't carry away the cookie crums for me. I found ANTZ much more entertaining, though I felt the animation was lacking detail and color. Even The Ant Bully held a certain amount of appeal.

Sorry Pixar, you can't win them all.

Please cast your vote!

I did. Fantastic and colorful animation. Hate to admit, but enjoyed ANTZ on dvd better for the story.

Antz was more grown up than Bug's Life, more for an older audience what with the voice actors, plot, dialogue - and that termite/ant battle is not for kids, lol. I wanna hear the future Blu-ray soundtrack on THAT one.

True. I guess there something about a neurotic Woody Allen as an insignificant ant that makes the story. At least he didn't marry his daughter in this movie.

I used to think Antz was better, but I find that I enjoy ABL more now. It could be that I have kids that are right in the target age group for this movie now.

But really when you think about ABL is just an animated version of Three Amigos/Seven Samuari/Magnificent Seven. And Pixar did not pull any punches, the end of Hopper was quite violent for a "kids" movie.

I agree in the scope of Pixar films that it is one of the weaker entries, but it still is vastly superior to many of the Dreamworks animated movies.

If you have Wall-E and you have not yet watched, The PIXAR Story, you really should make the time to do so. It is an underdog story and a story of redemption. It is only fitting that someone like John Lasseter has become the creative head of Disney and Pixar animation instead of some bean counter. It is really just common sense. Make a good story and audiences will want to watch it.

I've definitely gotta go with A Bug's Life. I'm not just saying that because I have Pixar blinders on, I just really feel that it's the higher quality movie. Again, just my opinion!

I think it was Clint Eastwood (or Paul Neuman?) who said, "The problem with movies as an art form is it is a business. The problem with movies as a business is it is an art form." Something to that affect.

While Hollywood is full of talent, some of it is misguided. Instead of political force feed we should just get what the audience wants. The hero gets the girl and the bad guy gets what he had coming. That's why I loved Iron Man. None of that G.I. Joe (no one really dies) cartoon plot. He killed the terrorists point blank. No hesitation. No pleading with mad men. No ploting a way to beat the odds. Just did the job and had no apologies. I hope the sequel lives up to the first.

Antz and A Bugs Life certainly are different.
One thing in particular (that bug some people I know) is in Antz, the ants had the accurate 6 legs, in A Bug's Life, only 4 legs.

Here we are, a group of MATURE adults arguing about the finer points of which animated insect film is the best. I loves these types of threads

My vote goes to bugs life, but I do love Ant Bully as well for a close second.

Bug's Life because it speaks to my inner child. Antz is more for adults and has a lot of references and jokes kids won't get but will laugh because the adults are laughing.

During their theatrical runs I enjoyed Antz more. That said, I didnt vote because I would have to watch them both on Blu, back-to-back to make a decision.
