Ok, I have the Sony HT-1100 (Surroundbar) hooked up via HDMI to my 1600, and I THINK I have DTS-HD coming out of it (got T2 Skynet hooked up), but all it says on the receiver is PCM/HDMI on the bottom. The Sammy doesnt say anything about DTS-HD being decoded on the dashboard....is this important? Or am I getting it already? I'm pretty sure its decoding DTS HD as I noticed a huge improvement in sound once I hooked it up, but I just want to confirm.

Are you using a receiver or just the soundbar with its own power source? To get dts-hd ma to light up on receiver...the receiver has to be able to support dts-hd ma and you have to bitstream it from the player itself. That is the only way you will get the dts hd ma to light up on the receiver. Having the player convert it as pcm though should yield the same results as bitstreaming though sound quality wise.

appreciate the answer. No, the receiver/subwoofer only decodes DTS/DDII Pro Logic....so it wont light up on there. It does say PCM, though. I was just wondering, even if the Sammy isnt saying anything about DTS-HD/TrueHD on its display, am I still getting that kind of sound from my system? I think you answered my question already though.

Bluray player. In the system settings...go to audio...u should have 3 choices I believe (pcm...bitstream audiophile..bitstream re-encode). Select pcm....although from sounds of it you already have it on pcm from the start.

Ok, I was curious when you stated that your receiver only Supported DTS and Prologic II, thinking you may have an older receiver, such is the case with my set up. Yea you should atleast get Lossless PCM via HDMI only if your receiver is connected via HDMI.
