I'm usually hanging out at Hooters (open to all ages) or an 18+ juice bar
50
Default Pro Logic IIz

It provides for 9.1 sound (2 height channels). DTS is working on a 10.1 version (also with 2 height channels).

No one could get the movie studios interested in encoding height channels so this is the next best thing. Why were the studios not interested?

So far I don't think anyone is too impressed with PLIIz. Cnet's looked at it twice so far and didn't have much to say about it.

Check last months Sound and Vision, they seemed to be very excited about it.

I think it just comes down to more work without any additional compensation. And there isn't enough interest in this sort of thing to justify additional cost. Movie theaters might have to rewire or add more speakers. Home theater people, most of whom aren't even geared up for 7.1, might just ignore it as well. Don't get me wrong, the more sound the better, but why bother with additional expense if there isn't a market for it?

I actually felt like he gushed about it to the point that I began to wonder if S&V got a nice little kickback from the article. I'd like to see some more reviews roll in on it- personally I'm not that interested in it thus far.

The more I read specialty magazines the more I'm convinced the magazine is working for the industry rather than the consumer. I'm not saying there's an industry-wide conspiracy because there are some consumer advocates who do a great job. It just seems like these guys know where their bread gets buttered, or perhaps they feel obligated to be cheerleaders for new technology so things don't get stale.

I originally thought it was somewhat useless, but since putting up my projector screen, It does seem like it might be nice to have a top left and right near the top corners of the screen.
<------ Take a look.

(The left and right seem way down there now )
