Default It says True Dolby HD, but is it

Why do some release say that they are Dolby HD but output Dolby Digital. I have Sony bd350 outputting on HDMI to a high end Yamaha Receiver. On the display of the Yamaha is says what audio codec it is receiving. I have noticed that most Blu-ray movies that say Dolby hd will display correctly. But recently movies like Beetlejuice, Dumb and Dumber, andThe Song remains the Same will display Dolby Digital. And yes I do have the direct setting chosen on the audio output within the audio options on the blu player. Funny how there is not a problem with the dts master output..ever.

Hey GalaticFunk,

Have you checked the settings on the disc itself. Sometimes, with most discs, the default audio setting will be normal DD...you might have to manually go into the settings menu and select Dolby HD...

Hope this helps.

I agree...always make sure you go into the menu on the disc and check your audio option.

Yes, like all titles released by Warner Brothers. They are ALWAYS default set to reg DD.

There are a lot of people around here who are angry with the way Warner handles Bluray releases that made anything less than the matrix and the dark knight....It wouldn't be a big deal if the rest of the industry wasn't already providing better as the standard.

You have to change the audio to TrueHD on all the WB releases. It's a pain not sure why they don't make the better option default.
