Default Man vs wild VS Survivorman

I have to give the edge to survivorman with Les Strout ove Bear Grills of man vs Wild do to the fact that Les does his own camera work and is out there on his own versus Grills that has a camera crew follow him

Les may be the better "survivor" of the two, but Bear Grylls is 1000x more entertaining to watch.

I think if I was stranded somewhere, I would rather be stranded with Les not Bear. JMO. Both great shows though. I feel I learn more from Survivor Man.

If there was a poll I would have to go with Les. Going beyond strict entertainment value, when you want to get close to real life survival situations/tactics/psychology, Les wins hands down. Sure, due to the unscripted nature of Survivorman, it’s slower paced, but get past the need to have MTV crack TV editing and staged stunts, and it’s informative and enjoyable.

I have taken numerous formal survival courses and have successfully endured an advanced survival, escape, resistance and evasion course. Survival does not play out like shock TV, but in a methodical and prolonged battle to overcome challenges and obstacles a-la Survivorman.

For further reading, some of this ground was covered here.

I don't watch much TV, but I have caught both Les and Bear on their respective shows. Both are good, but Survivorman (Les) is much more realistic to me - like a man really alone having to make it without anyone to help him (sans camera crew as well). It's the more "genuine" show.

How about making this a poll question?

I agree. You actually learn something from survivorman which is useful. Most of the things done in Man Vs. Wild would get a normal person killed.

I find Bear more entertaining to watch, but I admire the way Les does it on his own with no camera crew. I suspect both are about equal in terms of survival skills though.

I enjoy both shows, but if they were both on at the same time, I'd go with Bear. He is more entertaining to watch.

I'd have to go with Les Stroud... I like his style/narration/editing better. Totally enjoy watching Bear Grylls too, but to me, Survivorman is the better show... plus I have never seen Les pick berries out of bear poop and eat it... that was just wrong... still have nightmares
