Default Blind Buy's, How often?

Hi! to all,

I was just interested to see how many of you on these forums blind buy when buying Blu-ray's?

Out of all my current collection I've only bought one Blu-ray that I had not seen first and that was "The Descent" which turned out to be a decent film on an overall quality Blu-ray disc.

I'm trying to decide whether to blind buy Gran Torino (I'm a big Eastwood fan) and The Incredible Hulk (Used to love the old TV series) but I'm not sure if either of them would be good blind buys, any thoughts/suggestions would be greatly apprecited?

Thanks!
JW

There is a thread on this subject already in existence. But, I rarely blind buy. The only blind buy for me was Stir Of Echoes. Which wasn't a buy at all, it came with that: buy a Blu-ray player and get 5 free Blu's. I picked that one as one of my choices.

MY OPINION!!!!

Gran Torino- good movie, that being said you can only watch it once and that is enough, not worth a purchase.

Incredible Hulk- great AQ and PQ the movie was alright. This was in my collection for a while until I sold it for Benjamin Button. If you were a fan of the TV series. buy it!

Well...I can't really help you out with Gran Torino..I haven't seen it either and I'm in the same boat about contemplating purchasing it. But, the Incredible Hulk (Edward Norton) in my opinion is a pretty good movie that looks and sounds exceptional on blu ray...I definitely would recommend it. Hope that helps you out somewhat

Gran Torino is a good movie and worth a rental for sure, but this is not a rewatchable movie and not worth buying imo. The Incredible Hulk is a good movie that has incredible PQ and SQ. Definitely worth buying.(I have it on order from Amazon.ca)

I had a feeling Gran Torino would be one of those "watch only once" type of films/story, I do like the look of the film but I had a feeling the replay value would not be great, Million Dollar Baby was another Eastwood film that was a bit like this IMO in that it was a really good film but one that you only needed to watch the once.

It's strange because older Eastwood films like Dirty Harry, High Plains Drifter, Outlaw Josey Wales & Every Which Way But Loose etc. I've seen loads of times and still enjoy them whenever I watch them again.

As for "The Incredible Hulk" the only thing that worries me a little is the CGI Hulk, I'm just not convinced that I'll be able to accept it?

Cheers!

I'd say 35 % of my collection is blind buy's because I have not seen A movie in the theater in over ten years ! There are three movies I wish I did not buy !!
I am careful of the type of movie I buy as to weather I would like it or not !!
That & reviews might have something to do with it !!

Out of my close to 20 or so (including Godfather set) blu's the only one I did not watch before was Star Wars: Clone Wars and I wasn't disappointed at all. For me to buy a blu I need to have either seen the movie and love it or check this site for the review.

I have a few blind buys like Hellboy, Spiderwick Chronicles, 3:10 to Yuma, and a few more, but I have enjoyed them all.

I never buy movies blindly... ecept Baraka, which isn't really a movie. Bought it strictly as eye-candy. Other exceptions are David Gilmour, Diana Krall and Jeff Beck, but I know their music and buying their concerts aren't really blind buys. I'm 99% sure I'll wath the concerts as much as, or more than I listen to the CDs.

I can't spend money on Blu-rays that I haven't seen, I have too many DVDs that I shouldn't have bought blindly.

Recently watched Benjamin Button, Doubt, The Wrester, Body of Lies, Appaloosa and others that had great reviews, and they really seemed to be my type of movies, and stuff I'd want to buy. All I can say is, glad I rented them.

I've never blind bought a blu-ray, the only time I would if I was picking up two films and they where a buy two get one free deal, (in which case it wouldn't really be buying it).

The incredible hulk - I recommend very strongly
Gran Torino - shall be renting in the next week on blu, I hope I enjoy it as much as other have.

Thanks! for all the feedback guys!

After much thought I think I'll almost certainly give Gran Torino a miss, I really want to see the film but now having read a few views on the film I'll wait until it's being shown on TV.

As for the Hulk, still trying to decide, may take a chance and make it my second Blu-ray blind buy, but still not 100% sure yet.

Cheers!

Out of the 58 Blu's I own, 25 titles are blind buys. If a title looks interesting, I'll buy it. I don't really care if I haven't seen it or not. What's the fun of buying titles you've already seen before?

quite often, really. I'd say a bit more than 50% are blind buys.

However, when blind buying, I always first read online reviews from multiple sources, to get at least an idea of whether or not the disc is worth it.
