Watchmen Director's Cut Will Hit Theaters on July 17th - Blu-ray Forum

He confirmed that it will only show for one weekend in one theater in only Los Angeles, Dallas, Minneapolis, and New York City. So if you live in one of those four cities, you'll want to make sure you buy your tickets in advance for this re-release. I know I'm already planning to be there!

I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am to see this movie again. Over the last few months I've been getting a nagging desire to see Watchmen again in theaters, maybe because over time I've started to think about it so much more. And thankfully not only will I have that opportunity, but I'll get to see the extended Director's Cut, which I'm genuinely excited to see. Zack said that they've made an extra poster to promote this re-release and will even be advertising it. As has been reported previously, there is at least an extra 25 minutes of footage, though I'm sure we'll get exact numbers closer to July 17th. See you in theaters!

I love the movie, but I wouldn't go back to the theater for a dc when it is coming out soon.

I'd see it if it were Austin, but I ain't driving to Dallas. Blu comes out only four days later.

I agree. I would probably go to the theaters again to see the DC, but with it only four days away from the blu release, there'd be no point to waste $7+ when I can get it and watch it as much as I want for maybe three times that amount.

This move really sounds like a marketing stunt to get word to the public that the home video edition coming out will be a new director's cut of the movie. Sadly I think the commercial failure of Watchmen (and yes it was a failure going off Warner's own expectations and marketing budget) will mean no big budget, R-rated comic book movies for the foreseeable future.

I wonder why WB is re-releasing this in select theaters. I hope they don't think they'll make tons of money. If they do, they're foolish, despite how good the film was IMO.

No plan of seeing this agin in theater. I am not one to go see a release multiple times in theater. User too a long time ago, 20-25 years ago as a teen but now a days, I see it once and wait for the home release. Rather see it at home quietly and in peace

It's nice that comic book properties are still being made for movies, but the description of that movie means it will be marketed exactly like Wanted was, as an action movie, which is a much easier sell. I should have been more specific and stated superhero comic books more specifically.

I think Kick-Ass will fail as well (at the BO). I don't think audiences are ready for an 8 year old girl assassin. It's a great comic though.

I agree with you though.
